This New Year will bring lots of new features, some that I've been working on for a little while and some brand new ones. Much of it is behind the scenes, but as you will notice, there will be one major change and that is that I'll be moving my blog to its own domain. I will also be adding some advertisement on my blog. I'm gonna add some ads, in order to recoup some of the expenses of maintaining a blog. If you feel like helping out, you can make a donation. I will make sure to thank you personally for it. New Gyms, Workouts and Plan

Well, it's been a while since the last time I have posted anything that relates to my working out. For those of you new to my blog, I started working out seriously back in August 2005 when I probably made the best decision ever. I hired an awesome personal trainer. AWESOME. This was probably the smartest move that I've made regarding fitness. The first 3 months were the toughest because I did not feel like working out at all. I took some before pictures and my trainer took my measurements. After 3 months, even though I couldn't really see the difference, I was feeling better mentally and physically. I took some "after" pictures and I could definetely see a big difference. It's been over a year now and I want to still reach my goal of 200 lbs. So I'm heading back to a new gym (my old gym Olympic closed down) with a new plan, a visit to my trainer and some cool new gadgets.

A Friend of Blog gave me an advance Xmas present from my Amazon Wishlist. Strength Training Anatomy and Scrawny to Brawny. It was really funny since I was actually going to buy these books when said friend was with me and convinced me to wait 'till later. And boy was I excited to get this present. I've been reading these 2 books and I'm so excited. I gotta say these are quite the reads, specially Strength Training Anatomy. It's really cool to see what muscle you are exactly working out with each exercise. I believe these are 2 great books. I will be checking out be Scrawny to Brawny website for some info and their coaching program.

I'm also getting something from my mom that I can't wait to get. Nike + iPod. New Shoes, new iPod, new level of fun. Awesome. I'm gonna be able to sync my workouts with my music and track useless information in my mac. Here's a bit of information about the Nike + iPod:

I will be posting some of my progress and if everything goes according to plan some pictures too. Some pictures of the actual workouts, some of the before and after. As always I will be hoping for some advice, tips and some encouragement from my readers. I will also be doing regular post on my nutrition, measurements and supplements that I'll be taking. Again, I'm all ears for those of you that want to share your experience or advice.

I wanna thank those of you who have already sent me messages and those have encouraged me to get working on getting fit again. I will work my ass off in the gym. Promise. If you're in Vancouver and would like the name of my trainer, email me.

Danny Roberts

One of the very first Real World's that I watched was the New Orleans season. And was I glad I did. It is my favourite season by far and I liked it sooo much because of 2 people in that house. One of them was Danny Roberts. I just found him so cute, but I also found a different kind of person. He was not your typical gay man on television. He was just another guy like just like you and me. I was like 14 back then, but it really opened my eyes and gave me a sense of what the future was going to bring me. Danny was, in my eyes a role model. Not only because he was a gay man that had an positive impact on the way gay people are portrayed, but also because he was very level headed and "normal". Besides, how can you say no with someone like Danny! Out of all the gay cast that has been in the Real World, the only people that have had a good, positive impact on society that I can think of are Pedro Zamora and Danny Roberts.

Here's a little background on Danny Roberts from Wikipedia:

Danny Roberts (born July 19, 1977 in Rockmart, Georgia) is best known for appearing on The Real World: New Orleans in 2000. He started a relationship with Paul Dill, who was in the army as an airborn ranger captain at the time. Because of the U.S. Military Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, Dill's face was obscured on TV and much national attention was brought to the issue. In early 2004 MTV aired a special where Dill (then out of the military) revealed his face for the first time and the policy and its effects were discussed.Danny now speaks at schools across the country on diversity in sexuality, coming out and the military's "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
In November 2006, Roberts announced in The Advocate magazine that he and Dill had split up but remain friends.

Did I just read the last line? Where have I been lately? First Tom Brady is single again, and now Danny Roberts? I think I need to catch up on some news.

Sports Illustrated has chosen the Hottest Atheletes of 2006. The task was handed over by the beautiful girls of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Here's what the Sports Illustrated said about the athletes and the judges:

You have to love a beauty contest in which the judges are better-looking than the contestants. Every February, SI publishes its Swimsuit issue, a collection of the hottest models wearing the latest swimwear. Now, SI.com turns the tables in a way, enlisting a blue-ribbon panel of beauties -- Anne V, Brooklyn Decker, Marisa Miller, Fernanda Motta and Daniella Sarahyba -- to rank the best-looking male and female athletes in sports.
After cutting our initial list of nominees to 100 for each group, we sent photographs to our model judges. Bingham Cup 2008 - Dublin

The Bingham Cup, a three day rugby competition is named after fellow rugby player Mark Bingham, will be held in Dublin, Ireland in 2008. The competition will be held in Dublin City University’s campus in Glasnevin in June 2008. “DCU is large enough to host an international event, but it has a campus feel about it, so it should generate a buzz,” Costello said. Here's a little breakdown about the Bingham Cup taken from the IGRAB website:

IGRAB currently sponsors a single, biennial event: a tournament whose champion receives The Mark Kendall Bingham Memorial Trophy, also known as The Bingham Cup. The tournament is named for Mark Bingham, an early member of the San Francisco Fog and former member of the championship University of California (Berkeley) rugby team.

This year, there were 3 teams that put in a bid to host the 2008 Bingham Cup. After much consideration, Dublin came on top with its team The Emerald Warriors having the hosting duties for the tournament in 2008.

Announcing The Winner, IGRAB Chairman Raimundo Martinez said:

"It is my pleasure to announce the winner of the 2008 Bingham Cup bid. This year we received three great bids from Paris, Sydney and Dublin. All of the bids reflected the great spirit that characterizes our organization. Before announcing the winner, I want to first, thank first all the bidding cities. TV Crush - Tory Belleci

One of my favourite shows is Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. One of the reasons is Tory. The show itself I find fascinating and entertaining, but a little eye candy just makes it better.

Here's his bio from the Mythbuster's Site:

Tory first walked into Jamie Hyneman's workshop in 1994 as a fresh-faced young film student from San Francisco State University looking to start a career in movie special effects. Jamie quickly put him to work buying lunch, sweeping the shop floor and running errands.

But a determined Tory quickly learned all he could and moved up the ranks. I'm going to start posting a little more about Rugby. I'm gonna start by posting the rules, the game, the players and I'm going to have some guest writers to share their experiences about rugby. I've been getting a few requests and questions about rugby and I'm more than happy to answer them. Some of you have no idea what it is about and want to know more about rugby. Others want to know more about famous players. Some of you want to know if I'm either playing rugby or if I will be playing rugby in the near future and the answer is NO, at least for now. I've been busy with work and other sports that I'm currently playing. There are going to be a few changes in the way I do the posts and you'll also see some changes in the blog's appearance. I'm trying to simplify the layout and make it easier on the eyes and more enjoyable. Thanks to all the people who read my blog and all the super duper nice emails that I get everyday, they are always encouraging and they always put a smile on my face!

Vancouver is Canada's top Gay Travel Destination

Vancouver is now the number one gay travel destination in Canada, according to an international survey by Community Marketing Incorporated that polled over 7,500 gay and lesbian travellers.

Tourism Vancouver says they have been marketing to gay travellers for nearly a decade and recently teamed up with Tourism BC to step up their campaign. Gay tourism to the city has increased since 2003 when same sex marriage became legal in Canada.

So, after watching a few clips from "Weatiez" I saw this other article about Tyler Southwick. I can say that it's pretty muh the same pronciple that "Weatiez" uses. Hot 22 year old muscle boy blasting some rap music in the background. Here's some info about Tyler according to his YouTube profile:

This man can play Football and Fight and he can do it while looking extremely hot. Damn, I cannot think of any words. My brain is too busy processing "other" information. Here's some info on Tom from Wikipedia:

Thomas Michael Zbikowski, better known as Tom Zbikowski, is a defensive back, punt returner, and strong safety for the University of Notre Dame football team. He grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and attended Buffalo Grove High School in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. He also was a golden glove boxer, who had an outstanding amateur boxing career. Zbikowski has been described by Coach Charlie Weis, as "all day tough." His 2005-2006 season was nothing short of sensational. Zbikowski's performance in the loss at the 2006 Fiesta Bowl vs. Ohio State included a fumble return for a touchdown, but this was ultimately reversed due to a penalty on the play. Zbikowski did not play as a freshman and started as a sophomore. He is currently heading into his senior year leaving him one more year of eligibility heading into the 2007 year.

On June 10, 2006, Zbikowski made his professional boxing debut at Madison Square Garden, NYC, beating his opponent, Mr. Robert Bell of Akron, Ohio, within 49 seconds of the first round. The fight was compliant with NCAA guidelines. Bell, who is an Ohio State football fan, wore an Ohio State football jersey into the ring, only to be beaten in the first round by the Notre Dame safety. Zbikowski will continue his boxing career after the 2006 football season. He signed a three fight contract and has two fights left which he plans to compete in after the season.

I've been reading a bit on this guy "Weatiez". He posts videos of his workouts, and the odd dance video here and there. I also came across this article from The Advocate. Here's how the advocate describes "weatiez":

" Somewhere in America, a fit, tan, hairless 19-year-old straight boy who goes by the online name “Weatiez” demonstrates calisthenics while standing in his bedroom with a poster of a hot blond topless chick on the wall behind him. He’s the kind of guy I’d furtively steal glances at in my high school locker room, afraid of getting beat up if I stared too long."

In most of Weatiez’s videos, an aggressive rap song plays as he faces the camera then starts flexing his biceps and bouncing around, staring at me with an unsettling mixture of hostility and desire. Now, the reason why I'm spoting this is because I found that the male image wasn't really that big of an issue (at least in high school), but these days, guys seem to be taking care of their bodies at an early age, I mean this guy is 19. I cannot remember anyone in my high school working out and even coming close to looking anything like some of the 19 year olds with videos out there. I do remember sneaking out of gym class to go smoking behind the school cafeteria.

One of the items of clothing that many gay men (and some straights guys) find attractive is the Jockstrap. Even though it was made for sports and injury related situations, the way that it brings out certain aspects of the male anatomy, make it almost impossible to resist its appeal. The jock has been making a comeback on most of the sports scenes because it is easier to use and rather quite comfortable. As you would have seen in many pictures on my blog, it is quite noticeable on some major sportsmen and in some other day-to-day situations. It represents the masculinity.

What is a Jockstrap?

A jockstrap, also known as a jock or athletic supporter, is a type of men's undergarment designed for use in sports or other activities, such as during the recovery from a vasectomy. They are sometimes worn by some people as general, everyday underwear.
A typical jockstrap consists of a wide elastic waistband with a support pouch and two straps extending from the base of the pouch around the buttocks (which it does not cover, unlike briefs or boxers) to attach to the waistband. The pouch, in some varieties, may be fitted with a pocket to hold an impact resistant cup or box to protect the testicles from injury.

History of the Jockstrap

The "Jock". Although legend has it that athletes in ancient times competed nude, today's athletes opt for the comfort and security of supportive clothing. Tracing the origins of the athletic supporter, a.k.a. "jockstrap," according to the Research Librarian at the Fashion Institute the precursor of today's "jock" was a rubberized cotton canvas girdle worn more for modesty purposes than for support by bathers (swimmers) at public beaches in the 1860's. The knitted, worsted wool swimsuits (that covered from neck to knee) worn my men and boys of the era were clingy and revealing when wet and the girdle was designed to constrict, cover and flatten the offending bulge.
As public sporting events grew in popularity, athletes (largely male) now risked charges of "corrupting public morals" and " public lewdness" and began to wear the apparel under their tights and uniforms when competing in publicly sponsored contests. In 1867 a Chicago sports team refused to take the field while wearing "modesty" girdles and forfeited the competition. A riot ensued. In a newspaper story about the event a Dr. Lamb was quoted as "having recognized a medical benefit to males by the wearing of a protective girdle."

The jockstrap was invented in 1874 by C. F. Bennett of a Chicago sporting goods company, Sharp & Smith, to provide comfort and support for bicycle jockeys riding the cobblestone streets of Boston. In 1897 Bennett's newly-formed Bike Web Company patented and began mass-producing the Bike Jockey Strap. The Bike Web Company later became known as the Bike Company. Today, Bike is still the market leader in jockstrap sales.

Types of Jocks

There are several variations of jockstraps:

Wide band with a cup
Jockstraps with pouches and cup inserts are generally worn by baseball, football and cricket players and others participating in full-contact team sports to protect their testicles from injury. These are a requirement in some sports such as baseball, especially for catchers.

Wide band without a cup
This is the most common "gym jockstrap" used for general support. It is common in football and basketball, and often used in wrestling. It is good for lifting protection. It is thought to assist in the prevention of testicle torsion. This is the most used jockstrap style by men.

Narrow waistband
Narrow waistbands, or "swimming/running jocks" as they are commonly termed, are worn underneath swimming trunks and running shorts. They are sometimes worn under wrestling singlets. They provide protection and support while having only a 1" waistband that will not show as easily outside of shorts. Since there is no material in the back, the waistband has no anchor causing it to roll and bind which makes it uncomfortable for long duration activities. If worn under Speedos, the leg straps will show.

Jock brief
A jock brief, or support briefs, have a full seat instead in the back and a pouch in the front. They resemble normal briefs but have a wider, stronger waistband and are made of a more supportive material. They are gaining popularity with youth as they are less revealing than their counterparts however they typically do not provide the level of support, protection, or flexibility. They are available with or without removable cups.

Thong jock
A thong style jockstrap, similar to the athletic type, has only one strap attached to the bottom of the pouch, passing under the crotch, up between the buttocks and attaching to the waistband at the middle of the back. This style is often called dance belt, since it is commonly worn by male ballet dancers who often wear tight fitting Lycra that would reveal a normal jockstrap's strap, but also for other activities.

Compression short jock
Losing in fashion to regular compression shorts, they are compression shorts with a full or partial jockstrap sewn into the inside. They provide pockets for a cup and, in the case of the football variety, provide pockets for thigh and backbone pads.

Strapless jock
The strapless variation to the jock, called a sock for "strapless + jock", has an elastic pouch that hooks behind the scrotum instead of being held in place by the normal leg straps. While fulfilling the same purpose of comfort and lift, this design is less secure and has a tendency to 'slip off' as a result of frequent intense leg movements such as running or jogging.

Suspensory
Suspensories are similar to the jockstrap with one main exception; above the pouch that holds the testicles is a hole to put the penis through so that it hangs free from the constriction of the pouch. This is used for medical reasons such as surgery to the groin or for catheter access.

Fashion jock
In addition to mainstream practical jocks, some manufacturers make specialty jockstraps for "fun and play". They fit in the "sexy" or even "fetish" (e.g. referring to popular role-play characters, such as soldiers, firemen) underwear categories and can be made with see-through mesh, leather, velvet, silk, rubber, Rayon, Lycra or even chainmail.

Hockey jock
A regular jockstrap with the addition of four adjustable elastic straps and garter clips that hold hockey socks worn over shin pads covering the entire leg up to the thigh in place. Another common jock in hockey is the goalie protector, a protector with genital and abdominal foam padding. It includes, inner thigh guards with an upper puck bumper.

Hard cup
Hard cups are currently available in two basic shapes, the classic shape, which lays flat and is approximately triangular when viewed from the front and the newer shape, the banana cup, which is an elongated and skinny triangle that wraps under the testicles for added protection. The banana cup is named after its curvature shape and yellow color. Both types have padded rims for comfort and are made of a hard plastic. Ventilation holes are common to promote fast drying and cooling.

Padded cup
Padded cups are worn in mild to full contact sports. They are made out of a soft pad that can reduce some low impacts. They are worn primarily by youth and by people who find regular cups to be uncomfortable. These do not provide the level of support of hard cups and can become unsanitary due to the pad itself becoming full of moisture and lack of ventilation. The ventilation issue is also of concern due to overheating. These types are common in soccer.

Cup-only protector
Cup protectors that don't use a pouch are also available. The waistband and straps attach directly to the cup often in a one size fits all fashion. These are designed to be worn over briefs, especially if the cup has holes in it, otherwise the scrotum can be painfully pinched in the cup hole. They are common in kickboxing and martial arts to protect against groin attacks.

Combined padded jock and cup
An oversized cup and jock combined into a single item. It has layered foam padding that protects the groin, kidneys and abdomen. Generally made from leather for high durability. Has a liner inside that absorbs sweat and prevents slipping. It has a hook and loop closure for convenience and adjustability with inverted hips for unrestricted movement. Used in boxing.

ProFlex cup
Similar to the "Combined padded jock and cup", the ProFlex cup combines the hard and soft cup. It features a hard cup melded into a soft cup. This results in hard cup protection up front but with a flexible and soft backing.

How to use a Jockstrap

The most common way to wear a jockstrap is to put it on immediately over the skin, as the bottom layer. The leg straps can be seen through white baseball or football pants; if this is embarrassing, one can wear the jock under a pair of compression shorts. The pouch goes in front and the legs go through the leg straps. Pull it up and adjust to comfort. Some men like their penis to point directly up, others like it pointing either to the left or the right, while still others bend it forward so it points down. Pointing down is most comfortable when wearing a cup. It can cause problems in an erect or partially erect state while pointing to the side can cause hanging out the edge. A lot of times the penis ends up moving and pointing to one side or the other; if this happens, minor readjustment may be necessary. The cup can be inserted before or after the jockstrap is worn. Make sure the rim of the cup firmly comes in contact with the pubic bone without resting on the genitals; otherwise impact injuries can occur.
They are very useful to wear instead of regular underwear during hiking, biking, camping, or other outdoor activities as they absorb less moisture than a pair of cotton briefs and can provide much needed cooling. Jockstraps can also prevent scrotal chafing and impact because the scrotum is lifted away from the thighs, very useful while hiking long distances. Since most jocks are a cotton, polyester and/or spandex blend, they can easily be washed and hung to dry quickly each night. A jockstrap can also be worn under undershorts, as a third layer.

When to use a Jockstrap

When playing a sport or whenever you feel like wearing one.

Shut Up and Watch

Can't wait to see this documentary from the Dixie Chicks, Shut Up and Sing. I find it quite disturbing where in the "land of the free" you would get such a reaction by the comment made from Natalie. I think these chicks are awesome and they totally rock! They truly have some balls to come out and speak their minds. Make sure to check their website and definitely check this movie out, even if you don't like country music. And since we are on this topic, I might as well remind my American friends to go out and VOTE tomorrow. It only takes a little while, but you need to have your voices heard.

Halloween Fun

So this weekend I had the privilege of carving way too many pumpkins. And what I mean by way too many, I mean 4 pumpkins. That's 4 too many. I had to be at work at 6 am to do some work for Holly Hunter's new pilot called Grace. Anyways, on Saturday afternoon Sam, Rita and me headed to Reisa's house to carve pumpkins. Reisa decorates her house and she donates whatever proceeds are collected from the parents and kids to the Vancouver Children's Hospital. This is the third year that I have helped out by carving pumpkins which is always a lot of fun. Here are some of the pictures from Saturday:

That's me carving some pumpkins. I carved the skeleton one and the happy ghost in front of the tombstone. The one on the very top is the entrance of Reisa's house all decorated (almost). We all used templates (it's a lot easier) and the designs are way cooler and if you don't believe me just see what happens when you don't have a design (just look at Chris' Boo Pumpkin). On Sunday, I woke up not feeling well, so I skipped volleyball and headed out with Sam to Tracy and Chris' place in Port Moody for dinner and some more pumpkin carving fun. Here are some pictures from Sunday night:

I gotta say that Tre's lasagna was really, really good. I had a lot of fun at Tre's and Chris' place. In wished we had stayed longer but I had to be at work at 5 am.

This is an email document that has been around for quite a while and not long ago, it came back. Just to clarify I did not write this, but I find it extremely hilarious, specially the really short ones.

Now this are drawings made by kids, but you have to read the captions closely. Here's the content of the email with the following explanation:

If you work in an office with lots of people, chances are that you work with a person who hangs pictures up that their kids have drawn. The pictures are always of some stupid flower or a tree with wheels. These pictures suck; I could draw pictures much better. In fact, I can spell, do math and run faster than your kids. No, it's not you Benn, with your 2 n's, but where did Ben-Cohen.com go? Well, apparently Ben is between changing websites. Ben had a so-so season, but hopefully it'll get better.

A Little out of topic, I have this friend "Benn" that he seems to think whenever I talk about Ben Cohen, I'm referring to him, my friend Benn with 2 n's. So I'm dedicating a whole paragraph about my friend Benn.

So in the mean time there's a new website that caught my eye since it links straight from the Ben Cohen site. It's called Rugby for the Girls, but the good thing is that there's lots of eye candy for you to see and there's some pretty interesting interviews with players and coaches. Don't forget to check out the articles and the galleries.

There's even a forum with fantasies and all. I mean this girls are awesome. Besides the great articles, the have forums where you can discuss your favourite players. The only down side is that to reach most of the galleries and forums you have to be a registered member of the site, which costs abut 15 pounds a year. UGLY BETTY airs on ABC Thursday Nights at 8 pm

I remember watching this TV series back in Venezuela. It was a very successful Colombian telenovela. I had to record the Pilot episode since I had to work, but I have to tell you that this show is completely different from what American television shows are airing these days. The main star is not the prettiest girl on the block, but she is smart. It's about what inside that matters kind of show. I highly recommend this series, it's funny and smart. Besides everybody knows that the fashion industry is quite over the top and with the array of characters in this one, it's guaranteed that it'll make you laugh.

BLOG CRUSH #3 TOWLEROAD

Andy Towle. I do not remember how exactly I found this blog, but what I do remember was being fascinated by it. I immediately fell in love with it because it was a rare find. His site was dedicated to anything that related to the GLBT community, but it seemed better structured that some over GLBT news websites.

One of my morning rituals is reading towleroad. Andy always has some interesting articles about politics, sports and one of my favorites the Towleroad Guide to the Tube. And don't forget TowleTech. And besides, Andy is cute too. The only thing that I wish was a little different would be his Provincetown postings. Yes, I know Provincetown is great and all, but come on, there are lots of other places that are just as great. But lately there's hasn't been an avalanche of postings about it so I'll let it go.

Before I forget, make sure to look closely at his banners. There's always a story behind them.

Go and check Towleroad. I bet you will be immediately drawn to it. It's a great resource for news and sports and everything else, and besides there's a lot of eye candy too.

My Geography Club

Well, not really. I didn't really have anybody to share my sexual identity when I was in high school. After all I went to an All Boys Catholic School. I think that should explain a lot!

Today I bought the book Geography Club by Brent Hartinger and I have to say I really enjoyed this book. I could relate to a lot of the situations in the book. It's the story of Russel, a high school student whose curiosity about being gay and alone in High School. After meeting one night another gay student from his school through a chat room, Russel discovers that there's actually more that 1 gay student at his school and later form a group called the Geography Club, a club so boring that nobody would ever want to join them, where they could meet safely without raising any suspicions from the other students or faculty.

I really liked the way the story was told through Russel's point of view, but I did find that the story lacked certain aspects of their lives. At points it seemed like it was a bit rushed, but then again, this was high school, and everything was rushed and one sided, so that's why probably it felt like an actual high school student wrote the story.

When I was reading this book, all that I could think of was about my own Kevin Land and my own experience in high school. I remember meeting Anton (not his real name) when I was in 5th grade. It was his first day at my school, and of course he didn't know anyone. He sat next to me and I gotta say I could not keep my eyes off him. Over the months we talked a few times, and often worked on the same school projects, which I didn't mind since I got to spend time with him. 5th grade and 6th grade came and went and later my parents sent me to an all boys catholic boarding school (Yes, I know, save your jokes!).

When I came back to the 8th, he had changed a lot. He was now one of the popular kids. He seemed to have grown quite a lot and he seemed a little rougher, which I kinda liked. The first time he saw me back he came over and said hi, but that was pretty much it. As the years went by, we became friends in a way. We didn't hang out much at first, but when we did, a lot of our conversations revolved about art, life outside of school, politics and our favorite topic, movies and film. We talked a lot about films, from mainstream to indies to artsy. He wasn't a jock or anything, he was more of an art guy. He wasn't buff or muscular, but he had a slim tall body, with a six pack. I know this because we had swimming classes together and since he liked sitting next to me (so that he could cheat some times) he always played with his treasure trail right in front of me. To make a long story short, one day we were talking about sexuality (how the topic came up, I can't remember, I was probably too busy staring at his eyes and the subtle stubble he had) and the film subject came up, he asked me how opened minded I was and that he saw this really good movie (a gay one) and he told me that I should check it out, which I did of course. And then we began this movie club just between the both of us, nobody else knew about this. We would watch gay-themed movies, and talked to each other about them. We had quite the talks about the movies which eventually led to some gay porn or homoerotic material. He was a bit of a show off. He used to do all these thing in front of me at class, and slowly they became a little bit more than just showing off. He would now show more than his treasure trial. We would share the changing stall in the locker room (nobody cared that much, it was a small locker room and they actually told us to share a stall since there wasn't enough space for everyone). There were always these little things he did, and they were always directed towards me. I do have to say that I enjoyed every second of it. I, on the other hand was way to shy, probably why nothing ever happened beyond his teasing.

And then came graduation day. After all this time, all we did was talked about these movies, art, and about ourselves, and what it would be like later on, when we finally were "free" to do whatever we wanted.

Fast forward to graduation day. After the ceremony was over, everybody went to this private party only for the students, no parents were on site. After having a few drinks and at almost 5 am, I ran into Anton. I haven't seen him all night, both of us were with our respective group of friends. One of my very best friends got hammered (he was the smartest kid in the class) and he needed some help getting changed (he had TOO many drinks) into new clothes since his parents were picking him up soon and he could not stand up. After that was done, Anton was there, by himself. We both layed down on the grass on the patio of the house (everybody else was pretty much gone or passed out). We talked for about 2 hours and then he leaned over and kissed me, out of the blue. I kissed him back. My first kiss with a guy. Dang! It was great, even though both of us stank of booze. But at the same time it was a sad moment. I didn't know if I was going to see him again, since I had only 2 weeks left before I left home to come to Vancouver. I got kinda scared and so did he. We both got up, looked at each other and left our separate ways. Since that day I've not talked to him, but I've always wondered what it would be like to have at least a short relationship with him or at least to third base. I will never know, but I think I like it this way. It's one of the best memories of high school I have. If I could change one thing, I would have liked to have been a little more open and taken the risk a lot sooner.

I know that I have been absent from my blog for quite a bit of time. Work has been quite the rollercoaster. I have been doing 5 different jobs, 5 very different titles. My schedule has been changed pretty much every day, at the last minute, and to tell you the truth it has hit me hard. My sleep pattern is a bit off, and my internal clock is totally fucked up. I don't see anything changing in the near future, but at least I have had the chance to work on a variety of projects, including The L Word, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, and in the future it looks like I'll be doing some work for the National Film Board of Canada. I also have been extremely busy with my Graphic Design Company. I now have a few steady clients and some more coming in the future which is forcing me to finish opening my own company. I just have to register the name and finish some paperwork and I'll then make a big announcement with a website so that you, my dear readers, can come and check it out. There's quite a few designs that I'm working on, some T-Shirts, but mostly graphic design art for my clients.

In other health related news, still looking for a decent gym in Vancouver and so far nothing. Since Olympic closed I'm having a difficult time finding a good gym in this city. Volleyball season started again, and this year I'm playing in the Competitive 1 Division. I'm also hoping to help out whenever I can in the other divisions since I'm also a Member-at-Large (laugh all you want) at VGVA.

I hoping to keep this blog up to date, but it all depends on how much work I have at any given time. Again, thanks for checking out my blog.

PS. I want your opinion on my new haircut. I started going to this guy, who's a friend of a friends and I was pretty happy the first time I went there, but my second visit will be my last visit since he charged me $50 for a 15 minute haircut. I could have probably done the same thing with a pair of good clippers.

I don't usually like writing about religion, since I already get tired debating about it with my sisters and my mom (believe me, we spend hours fighting about the topic and sometimes we don't talk to each other for weeks). You see, I was raised in a Christian/Catholic household. My mom is very religious and so are some of my sisters, well, my 2 older sisters. They love the Pope (I didn't mind the last one, but this new one I really dislike) and everything that Christianity stands for. Most of our discussions revolve around my sexuality, and how the church views it; we also discuss a lot about tolerance, the freaking Pope, and other related religious topics.

Now, I saw this article in Towleroad about a movie called Jesus Camp. Now, this is something that is really scary. Funny enough President Dumbshit, I mean, Bush recently said that what they are fighting are the religious extremis t, yet here is this "Movie" or "Documentary" exactly doing what his administration is trying to fight, religious extremism.

Now, listen to this lady talk. She wants to send troops of Christians to the Middle East because she knows that the only true religion is that one that she is preaching, through Jesus.

I find that very disturbing, and it is very ignorant from her part.

When I was looking at the original trailer, I watched a few video responses from other people that saw that video and this woman's answer says it perfectly. Please take a moment and listen to her video response of the "Jesus Camp" trailer.

I find it all very scary and sad. When the Pope assailed Canada's laws allowing same-sex marriage and abortion, he said: "In the name of tolerance your country has had to endure the folly of the redefinition of spouse, and in the name of freedom of choice it is confronted with the daily destruction of unborn children".

I firmly believe that I have the same rights as everybody else in this world. I will only live once on this planet. As long as I don't hurt anyone or do any damage I can live my life whatever way it pleases me. If I want to marry anyone be it a man or woman I will and no one will tell me otherwise.

I don't usually do this, but, to the Pope and to those that want to push their religious propaganda and bullshit like the American Taliban that are teaching children to die for the "Right God" I have only 1 thing to tell you. FUCK YOU. Get a life, and become a respectable citizen, learn about tolerance and respect to others.

I couldn't have said it better myself and not only because I'm ESL, but because it makes a great point, that religious beliefs are the cause for most of the attacks. But they do come in very diferent forms, in doesn't have to be a physical and verbal assaults, it's also comes in the way of not giving homosexuals basic human rights, the right to marry, the right to adopt children, the right to be free and not be scared for their lives.

BLOG CRUSH #2 - NOT ONLY BUT ALSO

Brenner Thomas. Now, like I said before, there's some bloggers out there that catch my eyes, and this one has one thing. He's HOT. Like REALLY HOT. In my opinion he must have really bad sighting since his pictures are either cut out (only a fraction of his face appears) or they pictures are really blurry with messages like "I will not drink again" over and over again. But all is forgiven since his posts are fun. Only complain is that even though he is busy as hell he does manage to put up some post now and again, but I wish they were more frequently, and maybe a clear picture for once? Please?

If you have some time, go and check his blog out. It's fun and this one also has a very slick and simple design but it does the job and looks great, just like Brenner. So go and check it out.

Little Miss Sunshine

Went to see this movie last Thursday with Rita after she mysteriously scored some passes. Here's what-the-movie-is-all-about:

Tells the story of the Hoovers, one of the most endearingly fractured families ever seen on motion picture screens. Together, the motley six-member family treks from Albuquerque to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in Redondo Beach, California, to fulfill the deepest wish of 7-year-old Olive, an ordinary little girl with big dreams.

I gotta tell you, you have to see this movie. It's just great. It's very dark at points, and extremely funny at others. Check this movie out. I highly recomend it. Toni Colette is amazing in this film as is Steve Carrell. The writing is good.

James Dean - My Favorite Rebel

I have been fascinated by James Dean for a long time. His acting, his good looks, his rebel attitude. I have quite a few of his biographies and all of his 3 feature films, East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant.

Here's a little information about the young rebel:

James Byron Dean born on February 8, 1931 in Marion, Indiana was an American film actor who epitomized youthful angst. Dean's mainstream status as a cultural icon is best embodied in the title of his most cited role in Rebel Without a Cause. Director Elia Kazan was looking for a new actor to play the role of Cal in East of Eden; Dean and another relatively unknown actor, Paul Newman, were the final two chosen. Following a screen test in New York City the part was given to Dean. On March 8, 1954, Dean left New York City and headed for Los Angeles to begin shooting East of Eden. Dean played the son of a constantly disapproving father (played by Raymond Massey). The relationship between Cal and his father paralleled that between Dean and his own father, and so Dean took the role personally. He became known on the set for his improvisational contributions to the script; his creativity proved to be very important as some of the most famous scenes were his addition to the script. Dean would apparently drive past cinemas during the release of the film and stare in amazement as people lined up to see him. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role (the first posthumous acting nomination in Academy Awards history.)

He followed this up in rapid succession with the starring role in Rebel Without a Cause , a film that would prove to be hugely popular amongst teenagers. The film is widely cited as an accurate representation of teenage angst of the early 1950s. The film co-starred Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo. Director Nicholas Ray often encouraged Dean's creative input.

Giant which was posthumously released in 1956, saw Dean play a supporting role to both Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson. His role was notable in that, in order to portray an older version of his character in one scene, Dean dyed his hair grey and shaved some of it off to give himself a receding hairline. Giant would be Dean's last film. Towards the end of the film, an artfully aged Dean is at a banquet set to make a speech. This would be his last ever on-screen appearance. That scene has been dubbed "The Last Supper". Dean was nominated for an Academy Award after the release of the film same year as East of Eden.

He is buried in Park Cemetery Fairmount, Indiana. He Died on September 30, 1955 in Cholame, California.

There's something about him, when you see his films that just captivates you and draws you into his character. Jimmy doesn't seem to be just an actor. You can really see his pain, his happiness, his anger on every character he ever played. I find this true in his last film Giant which is by far my favorite movie of his. He had such a powerful presence on screen and along side Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor. It seems like his energy just went straight from the TV to you as if he was right there in front of you.

I have so many pictures of James Dean that is not even funny. Books, biographies, and all of his movies. I wish I had a copy of appearances on television. He will always have a little place in my heart for the rebel that he was and the rebel that I will never be.

From Brawny to Scrawny?

Since my favorite gym closed (Olympic Gym), there has been a void that cannot be filled and I have not been going to the gym as much as I used to. The new one where they transferred all the memberships to it's not the greatest gym, but it's Ok, the only problem is that is far away from my work and I cannot go to the gym with my weird schedule/work hours, but on the plus side they are open 24 hours. The gym closed a few weeks ago and since then I have probably been to the gym a handful of times. I have noticed that I have gone down a bit in size and I have lost about 10 lbs. I was at 195 a few weeks back, and now I'm back at 185. I've been going swimming a few times but that just reinforces the fact that I'm a bit out of shape. I mean after 6 laps I am totally out of breath. I have also run around the seawall a few times but my knees are no fans of running on concrete.

So since I've been a lazy ass (but not entirely my fault, lots and lots of work and lots of unnecessary planning for a trip to Toronto) I've decided that I wanted to make my way back to where I was a few weeks back and keep on trying to reach my goal of 200 lbs. So I've started a new workout program that will include a rather eccentric diet and I'll be going back to my personal trainer in August for some tips since it seems that I, for some reason, forgot how to squat correctly and I really need a refresher on form.

I'm hoping to post a few pictures of my progress, but in the mean time I'm going to start looking for a gym around my area and I'll keep swimming since it's nice outside and that way I'll work on my tan lines which are coming just fine thank you very much.

2006 Out on Screen Film Festival

I'll be blogging the Vancouver Out on Screen Film Festival. I have been going to this Film Festival since I came out a while ago. Even before I came out I found watching gay movies (mostly shorts) interesting. There's a certain look, mostly due to the restricted budget of the films, but also about the way the stories and the characters develop and how well some actor pull it off. The Vancouver Queer Film Festival has always been a favorite of mine. There's a lot of movies, including quite the selection of shorts and let's not forget the panels and forums in which I have had the chance to meet some filmmakers. I'm hoping to take some pictures too and possibly sneak an interview of one or two filmmakers or festival organizers. I will also be "Presenting" a movie that the Vancouver Gay Volleyball Association will be partly sponsoring with the Vancouver Gay Rowing Club, so feel free to come up and say hi before or after the screening. BLOG CRUSH #1 JOCKOHOMO

This is the first post of what will hopefully be a series of posts. Now, there's a few bloggers out there who for one reason or another catch my eye. This one is a special one since there's more than 1 reason. He's sexy, big and and a nerd at heart. I love his posts about music and he makes sure that you get a taste of it. One of my favorite things about the Jockohomo site are the wrestling posts, and the vintage muscle pics and quirky posts about things like the self-destruction USB and the Super Hero's going postal. I, for one, loves this site. LOVE IT. Some of it it's the posts which I always find entertaining but also the little things like those random pictures that he takes of himself or his surroundings. And let's not forget the highly sexy and artful banners that are constantly in display. Did I mention that I find him sexy too?

You definitely have to check this site out. It's just awesome. The clean and neat site layout, the posts, the sexy pics. Jockohomo is run by Jim. If you do visit the site, check the archives too, there's lots of wonderful information about everything and nothing.
I hope this blog gets updated more often.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately but work has been totally crazy, so much to do. Working on a new Episode of Masters of Horror season 2 has taken a lot of my time, and then there's other things like volleyball posters and brochures that I have to finish, some graphic design posters and projects that are due soon and then my "fun" trip to Toronto in 2 weeks to renew my Venezuelan passport. In between all of this and trying to make time to go to the gym. But since I have not much to post about here ares ome more pics of the Gay Rodeo in Calgary. Well, I do have something to post about, and that is that I've been working on a new episode of Masters of Horror Season 2 and so far most of my day is watching Jason Priestly's ass.
